The Dark Knight Rises – WAY COOL

I went to see The Dark Knight Rises on Sunday with my father. It was a very good movie, I loved it. Even though the movie was three hours long, it was still fun.

If you like a lot of action in a movie, there was plenty in this one! Batman and the bad guy, Bane fought a lot. There were a lot of guns, almost everyone had one. Batman only used one in one scene. I thought their aim was very good.

The movie was very loud!

Bane had a weird mask that made him not have any pain. He only removed the mask once and it was only after Batman beat him up. You never got to see his whole face so nobody knew what he looked like. What I thought was pretty cool was that Catwoman was in the movie. That was fun. She was a good guy for some of the movie and a bad guy for other parts of the movie.

The beginning of the movie started with a funeral for Two Face who everyone thought was a good guy. They blamed Batman for killing him in the last movie, called The Dark Knight. After that Bane tried to take a lot of money from everyone. The first time Batman saved them. But the second time Bane took all the money away from Batman (Bruce Wayne).  With Bruce Wayne broke and Batman out of the picture, Bane steals an atom bomb and because he’s part of something called “The League of Shadows” he wants to blow up Gotham City. In the movie Gotham City is really supposed to be New York City.

While Batman and Bane are fighting, the whole city goes to war. Police battle the bad guys and the police won. My dad said that the bad guys are modeled after some real bad guys. Dad said they’re called “Occupy Wall Streeters.” I don’t know what that means but he was pretty angry about what they seem to believe.

Without telling you the surprises in the movie, but I can tell you, it’s pretty cool.

WWE: Money In The Bank

English: The Miz's Money in the Bank briefcase

On the right you can obviously see that there is a briefcase but it’s not ONLY a briefcase! You can only win it at the WWEMoney in the Bank” pay-per-view.If you’re a kid, ask your mom or dad to watch the replay of it because even the way they do it, sometimes it can get a little bit inappropriate. But other than that it is a lot of fun to watch. My dad was very generous and bought it for me and my brother, to watch with him and a couple of my friends on Sunday night.

There are two briefcases. One represents Smackdown and the other represents Raw. They are the two WWE shows. Raw is on Monday on USA Network and Smackdown is on SyFy on Friday night. The briefcases are exactly the same thing except one is blue and the other is red.

A person can win “Money in the Bank” by grabbing the briefcase hanging high above the ring. But you have to get it by using a ladder, climbing it while all the other wrestlers are also trying to get up the ladder. Bodies go flying everywhere and it can be really funny sometimes when they do.  My dad says sometimes the violence looks like “The Three Stooges.”  I’m sure it doesn’t feel like that to the guys doing it. Once someone gets to the top of the ladder and can reach the briefcase, the y take it off the hook and if they do, they win. Read the rest of this entry »

Happy Birthday USA!

July 4, 2012

BY: Ross Beck

Our family is very patriotic, especially my dad. He goes to a lot of meetings to help make this town and this state and the country a better place. He also put a flag outside on the side of the house just below my room. We talk about caring about our soldiers and about being respectful to them. Dad taught me and my brother to always say, “Thank-you for our freedom and for serving our country.” We also say that to the people in the police and to firemen and also to ambulance people. There is one person who came home from the army yesterday that I want to say something about. There was a big welcome back party in Moodus, CT for Sgt. Matt Prue. He came back to Connecticut from Afghanistan. His mom and dad Shelley and Neil Mosig are VERY proud of him and so am I. Even though I never met him, I am still VERY proud because he served our country and he risked his life for our country. Thank you Matt for being so generous, and brave.I think my dad is right and that whenever you see a person somewhere who serves the country, either a soldier, police officer, firefighter or ambulance person that you shouldn’t just pass by them. You should wave, shake hands, smile or just say, “Thank-you,” because they do so much to make things really safe for all of us and for our country.

I also wanted to write you about my swim teacher. Her name is April Colon. She can be reached at 203-543-3299 or at lirpac79@yahoo.com. She’s teaching my brother, our friend Brian and me how to swim a lot faster. She is also a Certified Elementary School Teacher and helps kids in all core subjects… I got that from her business card. She’s very nice and a good teacher.

Please remember to vote for my friend Steve Obsitnik if you live in the 4th District and my friend Daria Novak if you live in the 2nd District. They are both REALLY smart Republicans and I hope they win.

Free Agency Day

July 2, 2012

For the hockey world, Sunday was the start of dad told me is called free agency. My dad tells me it’s the day that people who have signed contracts that ended get to sign with new teams for more money. Dad said he likes it because it’s the free market at work. I don’t know what that means but it sounds good.

WOO-HOO, it’s time to find out who the Rangers and Whale added to their teams.

Dad told me that M = Million and K=Thousand. I didn’t know that. So now you know that too.

P.A. Parenteau, who was our friend when he played for the Hartford Wolf Pack a few years ago left the New York Islanders and went to the Colorado Avalanche. They paid him $16M for 4 years. That’s $4 million per year. 16 divided by 4 = 4. That’s a lot of money. Good for P.A… I liked him a lot when he was here.

Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, who was one of my favorite players with the Whale last year, left the Whale and signed what Dad told me is called an entry-level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He will probably play for the Springfield Falcons, one of the Whale’s biggest rivals. I’ll still like him as a person because he was always nice to me and my brother, but I won’t root for him anymore.

Brandon Prust left the Rangers and went to the Montreal Canadiens and will make $2.5M for 4 years. That’s $10M total. 2.5 x 4 =10.

My brother Tory’s favorite player in the world is Chad Johnson. he left the Whale and went to Phoenix for 1 year. Tory was VERY upset about it. But Dad told him that he’s probably going to play for the Portland Pirates so we’ll get to see him again. That made Tory feel a lot better.

John Mitchell left the Rangers and went to Colorado with P.A. and he’s getting 2 years for $2.2M. That’s $1.1M per year. 2.2 divided by 2 = 1.1

Kris Newbury, who played for the Whale and who has very nice kids and a nice wife signed for 2 years with the Rangers. They didn’t say the amount he’s getting paid. I’m happy that I’ll still see his kids and wife if he doesn’t make the Rangers..

Micheal Haley left the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (BOO) and will play for the Whale. They didn’t say what he’s going to get paid.

John Scott is a defencemen who didn’t play much for the Rangers but he will go to Buffalo. He signed for one year at $600K.

Its really cool that my dad knows some of these people really well and that he let me meet them too. They were all really nice to me.  I will miss the ones I knew.

Don’t forget to tell your friends and moms and dads to vote for Daria Novak and Steve Obsitnik. You can tell them that I told you about it because I’m head of Kids for Daria and Kids for Obsitnik so I know what I’m saying.

Well, that’s it for me today.

Bye!

Time to Meet AND Greet

July 1, 2012

On Friday night, I went with my Dad to a Republican event that he told me was called a “Meet and Greet.” It was a lot of fun and very interesting.

I thought it would be fun to write this story red because red is the Republicans‘ color. The Democrats picked the color blue. People who aren’t in either party I guess would be white. I can’t make it white or you couldn’t read it. I learned a lot at the Meet and Greet that was at Monroe First Selectman, Steve Vavrek’s house. It was held to celebrate  Steve Obsitnik who is running for Congress in the 4th district here in Connecticut.

Some of the people that were there were running for office.

I got to meet Jerry Labriola, Jr. who is the Chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party. That means he’s the boss of the Republicans who want to run for office in Connecticut.

Jason Perillo, who is a Connecticut State Representative for the 113th district was there. Kevin Kelly is a Connecticut State Senator for the 21st district where we live.  He took over for Dan Debicella who gave up his job as a Senator to run for Congress from the 4th congressional district. But he didn’t win.

Chadwick Ciocci is running for State Senate in the 22nd distict. He would be my grandmom’s Senator. I have to tell her to vote for him. Last but not least, was my friend DebraLee Hovey who is the CT State Representative for the 112 district.

I wanted to do interviews with the Republicans who were there. My dad does reporting like a real reporter on the CT Whale at his Howlings site. He also writes about politics on two other sites. The first is called GettingCTRight and the other is his personal blog MitchBeck.com

I really liked interviewing the people. It was fun. My dad said he was very proud of me.

I told Mr. Obsitnik that I am the head of Kids for Daria. So he made me the head of Kids for Obsitnik. It’s really cool because now I can help both of them and they will link to my blog. Dad and I like both of them very much and hope they win. Please vote for them so we can get more Republicans in charge of America.

Here are my interviews with some of the Republicans who were there.

Candidate Chadwick Ciocci:

First Selectman Steve Vavrek:

Representative DebraLee Hovey:

Congressional Candidate Steve Obsitnik:

I wanted to say thank you to my dad for taking me with him to the Meet and Greet and to the meetings he goes to. I REALLY like it. But I also wanted to also say thank you for him helping me put the interviews on my blog. Dad said he had to pay money so I could put them here for you to listen to, so thank you dad.
